Mr Rob Harker

I completed my PGCE in 2006 at the University of Portsmouth and began working in Further Education. Originally supporting students who had been permanently excluded from mainstream education in what is now called ‘Fresh Start’ at Chichester College. From there I became a student tutor in the A Level department, providing guidance and support to the college’s A level Students.

I moved to traditional secondary education in 2008 and took up a post as a Teacher of Humanities at the then Manhood Community College, now The Academy Selsey in 2009. I have done several different roles in my 17 years at The Academy, Second in Humanities, Head of Personal Development and most recently Head of Humanities.

I have also been a SCITT and ECT Mentor for training teachers and those members of staff just beginning their careers. Supporting and developing teachers in the early stages of their careers is where my passion lies. I know that good teaching provides students with the best opportunities in life and that building the foundations of good teaching early in your career is vital.

I am very proud to have been appointed to the leadership team and am excited to continue to work with our new teachers and support them as they begin their careers where they will continue to provide the best education for your students.
